I posted this because it seems to me that the archery concept is especially tricky for conceptual/experimental music that is so intimately concerned with the intellectual process of creation. If the true virtue or higher magic in music is something that can’t be expressed in words, it probably can’t be expressed in concepts or algorithms either. The subjectivity is one step removed from the more objective and scientific character of modernism.
